Apple today said it received more than 4 million pre-orders for its new smartphones — iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in 24 hours, exceeding its initial pre-order supply.
A significant portion of the pre-orders will be delivered to U.S. customers on Friday and throughout September, while many iPhone pre-orders will be delivered in October. Apple does not share the break up between the two smartphones.
Additional supply of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available to walk-in customers on Friday, September 19 at 8:00 a.m. local time at Apple retail stores.
Apple said customers are encouraged to arrive early or order online from the Apple Online Store to pickup in-store or receive an estimated delivery date. Both models will also be available on Friday from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, additional carriers and select Apple Authorized Resellers.

“Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will be available in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK beginning September 19.

From September 26, it will be available in 20 additional countries including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.
Apple launched iPhone in two variants, iPhone 6 with 4.7 inch Retina HD display and iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inch Retina HD display.
Both smartphones feature innovative technologies and fast processing. It features Apple’s A8 chip with second generation 64-bit desktop-class architecture.
It features advanced iSight and FaceTime HD cameras, ultrafast wireless technologies and Apple Pay, an easy way to simply and securely make payments with just the touch of a finger.
These iPhones run on iOS 8 which is simpler, faster and provides more intuitive user experience with new Messages and Photos features, predictive typing for Apple’s QuickType keyboard and Family Sharing.
iOS 8 also includes the new Health app, which gives the user a clear overview of their health and fitness data and iCloud Drive, to store files and access them from anywhere.
iPhone 6 will be available in gold, silver or space gray colors and will be available in the US for a retail price of $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 64GB model and, a 128GB model for $399 with a two-year contract.
Both phones will be available through Apple online store and through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, additional carriers, and select Apple Authorized Resellers including Best Buy, Target and Walmart.
Apple Pay will be available to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus customers in the US as a free update to iOS 8 this October.
