YU Yuphoria vs YU Yureka!

We recently reported the announcement of the new YU Yuphoria, the second smartphone from YU Televentures. Here, we are going to compare the YU Yuphoria and its predecessor, the YU Yureka.

Starting off with the price, the YU Yuphoria is priced at Rs 6,999 and the YU Yureka is priced at Rs 8,999. The Yureka has been discontinued but the Yuphoria will be available from May 28th onwards and registrations for the sale are open.

The newly launched Yuphoria sports a 5-inch screen which is a bit less than Yureka’s 5.5-inch display. But both the displays have 720p resolution and come with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The design is one of the key changes in the new device. The Yureka was made of plastic and it had a soft sandstone finish at the back and on the other hand, the YU Yuphoria got a complete design change with metal body and a plastic back. The Yuphoria has a rectangular design unlike the Yureka which has smooth round edges.

The YU Yureka came with Cyanogen OS 11 on top of Android KitKat but now almost all the units have received the Cyanogen OS 12 + Android Lollipop update, but the YU Yuphoria comes with Cyanogen OS 12 and Android 5.0 out-of-the-box.

Under the hood, the YU Yureka runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz and on the other hand, the Yuphoria runs on a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processer clocked at 1.2 GHz. Both the Yuphoria and the Yureka have 2GB of RAM and come with 16GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD.

Talking of the camera part, the Yuphoria sports an 8MP back camera and a 5MP front camera, and the Yureka comes with a 13MP back camera and a 5MP front camera.

The YU Yureka is fuelled by a 2500mAh battery which gives a standby time of around 210 hours and talktime of about 8 hours, but the YU Yuphoria comes with a slightly small battery of 2230mAh with talktime of around 7 hours and standby time of about 160 hours.YU-Yuphoria-1

Both the phones are dual-SIM (micro) and have 4G LTE capabilities.

So, the YU Yuphoria is priced less than the Yureka and it has a better design too, but on the paper, the YU Yureka is definitely better. But we cannot claim the Yureka as a winner until we test the Yuphoria for a few days. But at its price, the Yuphoria seems to be the bang for the buck.
