So, this will be YU vs MI.
Starting off with the price, both the YU Yuphoria and the Redmi 2 are priced at Rs 6,999. The Redmi 2 is exclusive to Flipkart.com and the Yuphoria, which is an Amazon.in exclusive, will be available from May 28th onwards and registrations for the sale are open.
The Redmi 2 sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD screen which is a bit less than Yuphoria’s 5-inch display. Both the displays have 720p resolution, but the Yuphoria comes with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and the Redmi 2 has Gorilla Glass 2.
The design is one of the key changes between the two devices. The Redmi 2 is made of plastic and on the other hand, the YU Yuphoria got a complete design change with metal body and a plastic back. The Yuphoria has a rectangular design unlike the Redmi 2 which has smooth round edges.
The Redmi 2 comes with MIUI 6 based on Android 4.4 KitKat, but the YU Yuphoria comes with Cyanogen OS 12 and Android 5.0 out-of-the-box.
Under the hood, both the YU Yuphoria and the Xiaomi Redmi 2 run on a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 quad-core processer clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Yuphoria is coupled with 2GB of RAM while the Redmi 2 is coupled with 1GB of RAM.
The YU Yuphoria comes with 16GB of internal memory (expandable up to 32GB) and the Redmi 2 has 8GB storage expandable up to 32GB.
Talking of the camera part, the Yuphoria sports an 8MP back camera and a 5MP front camera, and the Redmi 2 comes with an 8MP back camera and a 2MP front camera.
The Redmi 2 is fuelled by a 2,200mAh battery, but the YU Yuphoria comes with a slightly small battery of 2230mAh which gives you a talktime of around 7 hours and standby time of about 160 hours.
So, both the YU Yuphoria and the Redmi 2 have the same price, the Yuphoria has a better design and on the paper too, the YU Yuphoria is better. But we cannot declare the winner here until we test the Yuphoria for a few days. But for now, we definitely know which one gives you more bang for the buck.
