Samsung and Google are in an ultimate battle to dominate the high-end Android smartphone market. Google recently launched the Pixel 2 with cutting-edge specs and features while Samsung announced the Galaxy S8 earlier this year with innovative features like Infinity display.

Comparison of the Flagships

In terms of design, S8 comes with the bezel-less curve design with glass on the back. Its fingerprint sensor is also located on the back. In comparison to Samsung’s flagship device, Pixel 2 has large bezels around the corners with aluminum finish. Both the phones are water and dust-resistant.

The Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch OLED display with support for HDR content. The display further boasts of 1440 x 2960 pixels resolution. Pixel 2 has a 5-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels.

Galaxy S8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip and offers 4GB of RAM. The device runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1. The smartphone is expected to be upgraded to Oreo soon. Meanwhile, Google’s flagship runs on the 1.9GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 32 GB internal memory. The phone features the latest Android 8.0.

On the camera front, Galaxy S8 packs a 12-megapixel sensor on the rear end along with an 8-megapixel front sensor. Pixel 2 sports a 12.2 MP primary camera and an 8 MP snapper. In terms of price, both the flagships cost over Rs. 55,000.
