Micromax Funbook P255 is set to hit stands soon. E-commerce site Snapdeal, which has started taking pre-booking orders, is yet to disclose the price of the new tablet.
On the other hand, Flipkart has listed the product at a price of Rs 4,799.
Infibeam is selling the Micromax Funbook P255 at Rs 4,499.
On Wednesday, Micromax announced the launch of Micromax Canvas Tab P650, a 3G tablet, which will be priced at Rs 16,500. The new tablet is aimed at strengthening Micromax’s presence in the Indian tablet market which is dominated by Samsung with 19 percent market share.
The Indian tablet market is seeing too much competition at present. Last week, Xolo entered the tablet market.
Nokia, which will move into the hands of IT giant Microsoft, will be launching its first tablet soon.
Tablets are eating into the market share of PC and laptop makers in India. Tablets are the main sought after device for the students community. Prominent player Apple is unlikely to launch a new tablet in the current quarter.
Also, BlackBerry PlayBook is not finding enough takers.
The 7-inch Micromax Funbook P255 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Cortex A8 processor and runs on the Android 4.0.4 operating system. It has a 2MP rear camera with video recording facility and 0.3MP front camera.
Its 2600mAh battery will provide a browsing time of 4 hours and a stand by time of up to 150 hours.
It has an internal memory of 1.15GB which is expandable up to 32GB.
